What surprise me is how come many ladies hand stitch do the running stitches instead of the back stitch, what in French we call "machine stitch "? Is not the back stitch more solid than the running stitch??

That tip about turning the needle around to thread it from the other side of the eye really works well! I never tried it before but it has helped me several times now to get it threaded more easily. Thank you!

I loved the "loading your reel" suggestion so much. I have never seen that done that way before. I usually thread two separate needles and put one in a pincushion until I need it.

This video is fairly old, but hopefully you'll get my question. I'm trying to pick up where my Mom left off, on hand piecing a Dresden Plate quilt. I normally machine piece, so this video is very helpful. However, I guess I'm trying to make machine stitch-sized stitches, but you seem to be doing larger. How big should the stitches be? I'm going to go back and look at Video 1, as I see that this is 2. I already see things that I will use...well, ALL of it will be incorporated. THANKS!

What does Harmoniser mean? Is it a brand name? or is it used because the fabrics go together?

Another way for the turned edge (to help protect the iron from the fusible glue) is to cut it accurately, fuse, peel the backing but do not discard it. Trim the peeled piece 1/4 inch. pin it back onto the applique centering it so only 1/4 inch of the web is exposed. press the hem. remove the pins & backing & iron in place.
